Janet is at the TOP...and she really doesn't care what anybody has to say about it. You know why? Because she is not winning, she's won.

Ever since Janet stated back in May: new music, new world tour, new movement, the newly named #JTribe (fka #JanFam) set the social media ABLAZE. We had no idea what type of musical direction she would take, but we knew it would definitely be worth it.

When Camp Jackson-Al Mana released "No Sleeep", many of the fans/stans and avid listeners were taken aback by the sultry, groove-worthy, impressionistic sex anthem. Many were expecting a charge up, dance-r&b-pop, drop-it-lower-than-the-crust-of-the-Earth (you're almost in the core) Billboard Hot 100 topper. Wissam's wife did the complete opposite. She gave us something we could feel, use, and have a grind/smoke session to.

"No Sleeep" is a rhythmic r&b track with a throwback 90s backdrop that is pretty much obsolete in today's musical climate. In a industry that is dominated by europop/trance/rave/urban music, Janet's "No Sleeep" is like rain during a heat wave. It's cool and refreshing.

Many fans, including me, was outraged and even went on a small rant when "Up All Niteee" I mean, "No Sleeep' didn't debut at #1 on iTunes. I was then reminded that, as an independent artist, the climb to the higher position is seemed as more dominating than a single that debuts at the top and falls to the bottom after two days. So, I calmed down and continued supporting.

Just when we thought Damita Jo was done for awhile...well, at least until the video release, LaToya's little sister released the Official CDQ version of "No REM" with platinum selling rapper J. Cole. The "Nobody's Perfect" maestro added something to the track that we didn't even know was missing: air. Janet keeps you down in under the covers but Cole World brings you up for air...just for a moment. Then it's back to schmexing.

Not even a week went by and Janet released the official video to "Stay Wokeee" (see below).

The "No Sleeep" video confused me at first watch, because of the scene transitions. First, she standing against the wall and she walks in the kitchen, then all of a sudden she has a mug of freshly brewed tea (probably chamomile, honey, and elderberry. Especially if she's having a "weekend marathon").

Joe's youngest daughter then pays tribute to him in the video by showing a slideshow of some very special father/daughter time they shared when she was younger. Janet then makes her way to living room where she grooves on the loveseat for quick minute. Janet the makes her way to steps and pays tribute to her big brother the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Why am I typing out a full description of the video?

Like so many members of the #JTribe, I wondered why she didn't give us a good ol' bankhead bounce and electric slide. I then came to realization that Janet has been there, done that, got a keychain, a t-shirt, and a mug...several times. The video is meant to be taken as a dream sequence...and Janet may be saving the high octane choreography for a future single, plus her tour. She can't give us everything at one time.

I must admit that everything that Janet has done this new era has been VERY CALCULATED. Janet is a decorated veteran and knows the game of war as it pertains to the industry. She knows what works and what needs a repair. The music industry has reached an all-time low as far as sales, but there is a way to work around that and I believe that Janet knows that course very well.

There is not an official release date for the new LP, but it will definitely be a "new classic" that will be relevant for generations to come.

I'm pretty sure her contemporaries are somewhere watching attentively.

....and for anybody that is table salty, I say this to you: #GetWithTheWinningTeam!
